What does the first part of the error message mean, "cannot create fontset.."?? then open the /etc/X11/fs/config file and add the new font path then run the command: /etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs restart to restart xfs. It only occured when using Putty/Xming to connect a Windows client to the server. I found the missing fonts package (xorg-fonts-75dpi). Does RH 6.2 use the xfs font server to manage fonts, or is the FontPath hard-coded in the X-windows configuration file?? How to fix it ?
