How To Fix Ws2_32.dll Error

Background The Winsock function getaddrinfo is only supported in Windows XP and later. WS2_32.DLL" « Reply #1 on: May 29, 2012, 06:58:04 AM » Hi Engineeringtech, Avast 6.x is not compatible with Win2000. You can download a modified WS2_32.DLL from here;http://martin.brenner.de/files/winsock2_getaddrinfo.rarYou only need to extract the compiled WS2_32.DLL from the dllfiles folder, then place the DLL in the same folder as the Winbox executable. So far I have no solution to this new issue, except to use XP.I hope someone posts a nice one, but really the days of Windows 2000 are numbered.

You could use avast 5.x though, seehttps://support.avast.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=455#idt_01Regards Logged Athlon64x2, 2GB, XPProSP3, 32 bit | Windows Firewall | FF15 sandboxed by Avast, NoScript, TrafficLight, WOT | AIS7.0.1466, EMET, USB-set | MBAM (on-demand) In Nmap this is done in nbase/nbase_winunix.h. Windows 2000 is no longer a supported platform by Microsoft. The immediate cause is that getaddrinfo, which is declared in the header file ws2tcpip.h, isn't available before Windows XP. But I am rather sure that even if you succeed, many more incompatibilities would show up on Win2000. Then you can run it on 2000 apparently!Have not tried that solution yet.

I guess this workaround is what was discussed in http://seclists.org/nmap-dev/2008/q2/0018.html http://seclists.org/nmap-dev/2008/q2/0074.html But wspiapi.h requires NTDDI_VERSION to be defined in order to do its work; the whole file is basically #ifndef _WSPIAPI_H_ Free V8.0.1497 Print Pages: [1] Go Up « previous next » Avast WEBforum » Avast support forums » Avast Free/Pro/IS/Premier (Moderators: MartinZ, hectic-mmv, petr.chytil) » "entry point freeaddrinfo could not be Next go back to your Windows 2000 computer and start up wow from Wow.exe.Wallah...
